What do I need to do as a new patient? +
Please arrive to your new patient appointment 20 minutes before your scheduled visit in order to complete paperwork, and for our staff to obtain vitals (blood pressure, pulse, etc.)
What should I bring to my new patient appointment? +
Please forward to us, or bring with you, any copies of X-rays, labs, and any other relevant records to your office visit.
What will happen at the first visit? +
Dr. Yaneidy Santana will perform an initial evaluation to assess your condition and specific needs. If diagnostic tests are necessary, they may be performed in our office or at nearby medical facilities depending on the specific tests. In all cases, such tests will be performed by individuals with specialized training.
When should you see a pulmonologist? +
It's advisable to consult a pulmonologist if you're experiencing persistent or severe respiratory symptoms. Common reasons to seek specialized care include difficulty breathing, chronic coughing, wheezing, chest pain, or shortness of breath. Additionally, if an X-ray or CT scan reveals an abnormality in your lungs, scheduling an evaluation with a pulmonologist is recommended.
Do I need a referral to see a pulmonologist? +
It depends on your insurance plan. Some insurance providers require a referral from your primary care physician, while others allow you to schedule an appointment directly. We recommend checking with your insurance provider beforehand.
Will I need additional tests during my visit? +
Depending on your symptoms and medical history, your pulmonologist may order further diagnostic tests such as pulmonary function testing, imaging studies (chest X-ray or CT scan), or bloodwork to assess your lung health.
Do you offer same-day or urgent appointments? +
We strive to accommodate urgent cases whenever possible. If you are experiencing severe breathing difficulties, chest pain, or other emergency symptoms, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately.
